Leak Detection in Water Distribution Networks Based on Water Demand Analysis

چکیده

This paper deals with the problem of leak detection in Water Distribution Networks (WDN). A method based on water demand analysis District Metered Areas (DMAs) is proposed. Historical leak-free data flow used to extract minimum, maximum values, and statistical distributions differences (errors) between predicted values at different time hours day. The concept sensor fusion applied reduce measurement uncertainties. For this, a virtual generated that considers each hour day feature and, combined, develops more accurate error capable detecting leaks estimating size magnitude. Furthermore, increase accuracy method, prediction errors are analyzed moving window. Finally, performance proposed assessed by using actual real DMAs Barcelona WDN.

GPR-Based Water Leak Models in Water Distribution Systems

This paper addresses the problem of leakage in water distribution systems through the use of ground penetrating radar (GPR) as a nondestructive method. Laboratory tests are performed to extract features of water leakage from the obtained GPR images. Moreover, a test in a real-world urban system under real conditions is performed. Feature extraction is performed by interpreting GPR images with t...

LEAK DETECTION IN WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM USING NON-LINEAR KALMAN FILTER

Leakage detection in water distribution systems play an important role in storage and management of water resources. Therefore, to reduce water loss in these systems, a method should be introduced that reacts rapidly to such events and determines their occurrence time and location with the least possible error. In this study, in order to determine position and amount of leakage in distribution ...

Peaking demand factor-based reliability analysis of water distribution systems

Water demands vary and consideration of the probabilistic nature of the variations should lead to more instructive assessments of the performance of water distribution systems. Water consumption data for several households were analysed using the chi-square technique and it was found that distributions worth considering under certain circumstances include the normal and lognormal. Reliability v...

Sensor placement for leak detection and location in water distribution networks

The performance of a leak detection and location algorithm depends on the set of measurements that are available in the network. This work presents an optimization strategy that maximizes the leak diagnosability performance of the network. The goal is to characterize and determine a sensor configuration that guarantees a maximum degree of diagnosability while the sensor configuration cost satis...
